7A Ardroil Reviews

"What a wonderful house. We have so enjoyed staying here. It is so magical and serene. The weather was superb and early morning outside with the birds and bunnies, the best. We admired the large number of orchid leaves peeking about the place which will, no doubt, be much admired once they flower.

So, a huge thank you from us both for opening up this house for folks like us to stay.

A delightful place to celebrate our 25th Silver wedding Anniversary. We both think it may be the best holiday ever."

"Lovely house and comfortable surrounds. We enjoyed the walks to the wonderful Uig beach especially Ruby our dog. Had a long walk to Loch Tamnabhaigh on our first day and got caught in the rain. Weather has been good and the countryside wonderful. Have seen plenty of wildlife, on land and sea. Sampled the wonderful scallops from the quay just down the road, home cooked with black pudding. Also managed to fit in a trip to Port of Ness and the lighthouse, the Bridge to Nowhere and Luskentyre beach in Harris."

"This is a nice place to stay, when we first looked around the house my dad found a guitar. Dad plays so was very excited!

I would definitely come back here, because it's close to the beach and it's good weather!

The beds are really comfy, so are the sofa's.

I WOULD DEFINITELY COME BACK!!! :)"

"This is our first visit to Ardroil. It's clearly a home from home for the owner. As such, we found it to be a very comfortable and pleasant place to spend our week here. Although not strangers to Lewis, our visit to Uig has been a real treat, this is a very beautiful corner of the island, definitely worth the long drive to get here. We're here in early April and although there have been a few heavy showers, the sun has shone too, in fact, one of our party has been in the water at the beach too! We would highly recommend coming to Ardroil for a holiday and definitely recommend staying at number 7A. Thank you for helping to make our trip to Lewis memorable, for all the right reasons.

PS: The guitar is now re-tuned and playable again! :)"

"Thanks for sharing this magical place and being the perfect host.

I had an awesome time as always."

"Our second stay here too! The first time was 5 years ago. This time was shared again until with our son - but also his wife and baby daughter who loved the beach!
The weather - as always was variable - on the sunny 2nd day we saw 3 golden eagles and a white tailed sea eagle overhead in the space of 10 minutes! We were out everyday and David and Andrew climbed Mealiaisbhal.

Auberge Carnish and Loch istean recommended as places to eat, and as well as Ardroil beach and the one at Riof, Bhaltos is great.

The house was lovely, warm and comfortable - especially when the winds and rain struck!

Thank you."

"Our second stay at 7A... (no rhyme intended...!) and it has been wonderful. The weather has been extremely kind to us allowing clear views from Griomaval, and a brilliant display of the Milky Way... (again, no rhyme intended...).

Mangurstadh has drawn us back several times to both the beach, and the magnificent cliffs to the north and south. We had Reef Beach almost to ourselves, and enjoyed the company of an inquisitive seal at Mealastadh.

This area is a walkers paradise.

A full day was had on Harris with an excellent lunch at Skoon Art Cafe and visits to the beaches on the west coast - a sighting of a sea eagle at Northon... could go on but...

A fabulous meal at Auberge Cornish completed our stay. Many thanks, Mark, for allowing us into your lovely home."

7B Ardroil Reviews

"7B Ardroil, what a lovely cottage in a fantastic setting. Our first visit to Lewis and what a visit; amazing scenery, absolutely stunning beaches and a variety of walks to suit all abilities!

Thank you Mark for making your "second home" available to us and for providing so many interesting and useful books (the "Walking on Harris - Lewis" helped us reach the summits of both Suaineabhal and Mealaisbhal). Our only regret, well maybe not 'the only' is that due to our flights etc we can't take any of that wonderful Black Pudding, Smoked Salmon or whiskey home with us. Maybe next time...

Thanks too to Martin, and his wife, for making us feel welcome and sending the lovely vase of flowers on our arrival :-)

Thank you once again,

Best wishes and Kindest regards"

"Sorry can't match the artwork of the previous entry. The house and the surroundings looked beautiful from the photographs on your website, but the reality was much better.

We've had a wonderful, relaxing holiday here and will certainly recommend 7B to friends and family. To have a beach like this one so close by has been a dream - especially for Freya and Fly (border collies) to get unlimited ball-chasing! Thought the community shop, museum and especially the cakes in the cafe were superb - a great local effort which also made life good for visitors like us. We did the usual things - Callanish and Carloway, and went to Harris but probably best of all was just discovering all the beaches, gneiss and sea stacks of Uig.

Thank you for a comfortable, enjoyable stay.

PS: and a daily pigrimage to the 'Chessman'"

"We couldn't believe our luck! We'd spent seven nights in a relatively small camper van but, thanks to Mark returning our call, found ourselves in a comfortable and well-equipped cottage in one of the most beautiful spots in the British Isles. Magic!

We enjoyed blustery, wet days curled up watching Wimbledon whilst good weather found us exploring the beaches. Traigh na Beraigh is still favourite and not just for the beach but also for the walks up onto the Machair and on higher to admire the granite and the beautiful lochans. Masses of flowers with a background of rock and lichen set against azure, turquoise and aquamarine.

High pressure next week and we wish we could stay to bird-watch. Alas... the ferry awaits.

Thank you so much, Mark, for returning our call that day - our stay in 7B has been blissful."
